The original Album was published by the State Publishing House of the Armenian SSR among a number of publications related to the anniversary, the 1000th anniversary of the Armenian folk epic - “Sasna Tsrer”. The original publication is an album of drawings, which were printed for the first time at that time, depicting individual episodes of ancient Armenian legends and traditions. The pictures are arranged in chronological order. The author of the drawings is Joseph Rotter, a German artist who lived in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Studied at the Munich Academy of Arts. For some time he lived in Tiflis, where he drew cartoons in magazines published here. He is also known as the author of illustrations for a number of Armenian fairy tales.
