About us

The Mathur project is a practical research art laboratory dedicated to the phenomenon of Spiritual singing.

We have taken the Middle Ages as a stating point in time, from which we move into the pre-Christian spiritual world, on the one side, and into the late medieval canons of Christianity in Armenia, on the other one.

The project consists of a choir laboratory exploring the practical aspects of the peculiarities of the manner of singing, recording notes and semiotics of spiritual poetry, as well as working with major scientists and publishing thematic books.

We have dozens of examples of ancient peoples who crossed the threshold of their "museality" and created relevant, popular media products based on the traditional culture of their countries.

Samurai and Vikings, Sufis and dervishes, Maya warriors and Indian gods are known all over the world. Irish dance shows, Beijing opera and African drummers are successfully playing on screens and stages around the world.
